• Anton Salakaev

  Founder and artistic director of the Volga-Volga band that formed in 1998. The band takes part in various charity and fundraising events, puts on concerts at schools and children's homes. The Volga-Volga band performs its own songs, Soviet-era songs and covers of popular songs. The band gives up to 90 gigs each year.

• Artem Silchenko

  Famous Russian high diver. Russian diving champion (2001), world high diving champion (2006), Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series champion (2013). He finished 6th at the 2013 FINA World Championships in Barcelona and placed 4th at the 2014 FINA High Diving World Cup in Kazan. He earned bronze at the 2015 FINA World Chmapionships in Kazan. Repeat winner and runner-up of international high diving and cliff diving tournaments. Water show performing artist.

• Dmitry Sautin

  Soviet and Russian diver, two-time Olympic champion, holder of a record number of eight Olympic diving medals. Merited Master of Sport of Russia (2000). At present, he serves as the Vice President of the Russian Diving Federation and Voronezh Regional Duma deputy.

  Russian singer. Composer. Repeat winner of music awards and festivals. 

  

  Nyusha's sister Maria Shurochkina, a Russian synchro swimmer and three-time world champion, competed at the World Championships in Kazan. 

• Orlando Duque

  World-famous Colombian high diver and cliff diver. Ten-time world champion, six-time Cliff Diving World Cup champion, three-time European champion, Red Bull Cliff Diving World series winner, winner of the inaugural edition of the 2014 High Diving World Cup in Kazan. Orlando has also made it into the Guinness Book of World Records on two occasions: one of them when he achieved a perfect 10 at the 2000 World Championships and the other one for a record number of dives from natural formations. 

   

  

  Orlando had a pool and 27-metre platform built for him near his house in Colombia because it's really hard to find a platform that high for practices. 

• Rustem Chanyshev

  Lead singer of the Bolshoy Kush ('King’s Ransom') pop band. Bolshoy Kush became the first Tatarstan band to earn the right to represent Russia at an international song contest. After winning the preliminary round of the Global Battle of the Bands 2006 Russia, Bolshoy Kush performed Russia's entry at the contest final in London. In 2010 and 2011, the band won the people's choice award at the Emergenza Rock Festival. In November 2011, the band became a winner at the Meet and Greet Contest on the Yatalant website and met with MAROON 5 in St Petersburg.

  

  In June 2013, his song, 'Universiade in Kazan', was included in the collection of best songs about the Universiade compiled by Igor Krutoy

• Svetlana Romashina

  Famous Russian synchro swimmer, three-time Olympic champion, 15-time world champion, 7-time European champion. Together with Natalia Ishchenko, she competed in the duet routine. After the London 2012 Olympic Games, she performs in the solo, duet (with Svetlana Kolesnichenko) and team events. She earned her latest two gold medals at the 2015 FINA World Championships in Kazan.

• Vladimir Salnikov

  Famous Soviet swimmer, four-time Olympic champion, repeat world and European champion, world record holder. Merited Master of Sport of the USSR (1978), trainee of the Ekran Sports School (St. Petersburg), member of the CSKA team. Since February 2010, he is the President of the Russian Swimming Federation. He shares the record for the highest number of Olympic gold medals won by Soviet/Russian swimmers (4) with Alexander Popov. He graduated from the Leningrad State Institute of Physical Culture named after P.F. Lesgaft (1981).

  

  During his sports career, Salnikov earned plenty of nicknames: ‘Water Monster’, ‘Iron Man’, ‘Man Without Nerves’, ‘Record-setting Machine’, ‘Great Salnikov’.

• Vladislav Babichev

  Russian volleyball player. Native of Kazan. Vladislav has been playing in the Zenit Kazan Voleybal Club for over 15 years now. During all these years, his team has won numerous titles. Vladislav Babichev is a seven-time Russian champion, three-time CEV Champions League gold medallist, four-time Russian Cup title holder.
