The women’s 200m individual medley final has just concluded at the FINA World Championships in Kazan.

Hungarian swimmer Katinka Hosszu updated the world record finishing the heat in 2:06.12. The previous women’s 200m individual medley record (2:06.15) had been set by American swimmer Ariana Kukors at the 2009 World Aquatics Championships in Rome. As we’ve reported earlier, Katinka Hosszu already achieved the new European record in the women’s 200m individual medley the day before.

Japanese swimmer Kanako Watanabe claimed silver while bronze went to Siobhan Marie O’Connor of Great Britain.
