The forth final heat has wrapped up a short time ago at the 16th FINA World Championships in Kazan. The world’s best eight swimmers competed for medals in the men’s 800m freestyle.

Chinese swimmer Sun Yang made quite a name for himself at the World Championships in Kazan. This time he clocked 7:39.96, which brought him gold in the 800m freestyle event. Italy’s swimmer Gregorio Paltrinieri finished second with a time of 7:40.81. Mack Horton of Austarlia took home bronze finishing the race with 7:44.02.

On the very first day of the swimming tournament Sun Yang had managed to claim gold in the 400m freestyle. The Chinese swimmer has three medals now, one silver, taken in the 200m freestyle event, and two golds.

“My dream was to win gold at this tournament and I'm happy that it has come true on the very first competition day. At the moment we, experienced swimmers, face a lot of challenges as more and more young athletes emerge. But nevertheless I keep improving my results and here I would like to thank my coaches for helping me to remain unbeatable. Do I want to set a record? Of course I do. I think that I've set myself a pretty good goal ahead of the Olympics," the two-time Olympic champion and six-time world champion said.
